The International 2022 Team and Player Stickers

September 20, 2022

After 20 days of hard-fought battles, the six winners of the Regional Qualifiers will join the 12 DPC qualified teams in the fight for the Aegis during The International 2022. Congratulations to Hokori, BetBoom Team, Soniqs, Royal Never Give Up, Talon Esports and Entity on their well-earned victories.

The Second and Third place teams from each Regional Qualifier will face each other for the two final slots during the Last Chance Qualifiers. This nailbiter tournament will run from October 8th to the 12th, just a few days before The International officially begins.

Today we are releasing a new feature of the 2022 Battle Pass to celebrate and support the teams: Team and Player Autograph Sticker Capsules. Featuring all teams and players participating in The International 2022 and the Last Chance Qualifiers in Basic, Glitter, Holo and Gold versions, Stickers are permanent collectibles that commemorate this year's tournament and allow you to display your fandom in multiple ways. Today's update introduces the top 12 DPC teams, with the other 18 teams coming next week.

You can build Team Collections by pasting your stickers in the Sticker Collection pages and redeem up to 16 Battle Pass levels for completing 1, 5, 10 or all 30 teams. You can also favorite a Team Row and display all of its related stickers in your profile page for everyone to see, or put a sticker from your armory in your profile card.

Additionally, if you want to display your fandom while you're playing or to boast that you're as good as a pro player when playing your favorite hero, you can stick stickers to specific heroes and have them displayed in the Versus and MVP Screens. Show everyone that your Enigma is like DJ's, your Earth Spirit is as good as BoBoKa's, your micro with Chen is akin to Puppey's, or that your teamfight positioning with Terrorblade is as good as Arteezy's by sticking your favorite player or team stickers in each hero's respective Hero Page.

Sticker Capsules can be purchased in the all-new Sticker Store and 50% of the revenue will go to support the teams included in the capsule. Stickers purchased this way are tradeable and marketable. Sticker Capsules are also granted to everyone in the Battle Pass at level 1, 150 and 300. Jump into the client now and find your favorite team and player stickers waiting for you.

Battle Pass Update

September 14, 2022

On release of the Battle Pass, one theme we've noticed in community feedback is that players don't feel like they're making progress commensurate with the amount of matches that they have been playing. With that in mind, we looked at the data for the 2022 Battle Pass compared to The International 10 Battle Pass to see if the data matched this perception. What we found is that even though the amount of points players can potentially earn is similar between the two Battle Passes, the median amount that has been earned is lower in the 2022 Battle Pass. As a result, a hardcore player will have a similar amount of points, but a more casual player is likely to have fewer points than before.

With this data in hand, we have decided to make some changes to help achieve our goal of making participating in the Battle Pass feel rewarding for all players.

Weekly Bonus Feature
We're adding a new Weekly Bonus feature that simply grants Battle Points whenever you complete a match.  Winning a match earns 200 Battle Points, and losing a match grants 100 Battle Points up to a cap of 2000 Battle Points per week. Turbo matches also earn Battle Points, but at half of the normal rate.

Weekly Quests Update
Starting with Week 2, we've made changes to the rewards for Weekly Quests:

  • For non-Bonus weeks, instead of rewarding 500/1000/1500 Battle Points at 4/9/15 stars, we will now reward 1000/1000/1000 Battle Points at 2/8/15 stars.
  • For Bonus weeks, the first Bonus Week Battle Chest is now available at 2 stars instead of 3 stars.

The net result of these changes is that these rewards will be accessible for more casual players.  We also recommend that players prioritize completing the Bonus Weeks, as the Bonus Week Battle Chests are potentially worth a large amount of points.

Dota Plus Outage
We apologize to all Dota Plus customers that Dota Plus item suggestions have not been working for the past week. We believe that it should be working now, and we're sorry for the delay.

In compensation, we're going to grant every player who has played a match since the release of the Battle Pass a free week of Dota Plus.

The Arlington Major Champions

August 16, 2022

Image from PGL

After two weeks of furious competition from the best teams in the world, Team Spirit have outlasted all challengers to claim the title of Arlington Major Champions — securing a Grand Finals victory in a thrilling rematch with a powerful rival. Congratulations to Yatoro, TORONTOTOKYO, Collapse, Mira, and Miposhka!

In a turn of events reminiscent of The International in Bucharest, Team Spirit's road to victory offered no choice but to defeat a legendary foe. PSG.LGD were dominant throughout the tournament and looked unbeatable in both the Group Stage and the Playoffs. They even defeated Team Spirit 2-0 in the Upper Bracket Finals, sending the squad into the Lower Bracket where a very strong Team Aster were waiting. Team Spirit fought hard to bounce back and earned the right for a fitting rematch with PSG.LGD in the Grand Finals. After an exciting series — including a nail-biting 75-minute Game 2 — Team Spirit closed out the tournament with a convincing 3-1 victory to the delight of their fans worldwide.

The International Awaits

With the final Major of the season concluded, the first 12 teams to officially qualify to The International have been decided:

  • PSG.LGD
  • OG
  • Team Spirit
  • beastcoast
  • Team Aster
  • Thunder Awaken
  • BOOM Esports
  • TSM
  • Tundra Esports
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Fnatic

We look forward to seeing all of these worthy competitors in Singapore this October vying for the Aegis of Champions.

There are still spots up for grabs at The International, and the next opportunity in that journey arrives in the Regional Qualifiers. These qualifiers will run September 3 - 18, and the winners from each of the six regions will secure themselves invites to The International.

The second and third place teams in each Regional Qualifier will have one last shot to earn the ultimate invite — with the Last Chance Qualifier tournament, running October 8 - 12. The top two teams from that tournament will round out the final field of teams invited to The International.

Gameplay Patch 7.32

As mentioned previously, Gameplay Patch 7.32 will arrive sometime before The International Regional Qualifiers.
