Exclusive Battle Pass Campaign — Siltbreaker: Act I

June 09, 2017

A day of reckoning has arrived. A long-dormant evil stirs in Dark Reef prison, and four chosen defenders must band together to undertake a secret mission to stop the fiendish Siltbreaker and his enthralled host of followers. To face this dire threat, all Battle Pass owners are invited to journey across vast landscapes filled with hordes of monsters and other lethal terrors in the first-ever cooperative Dota 2 Multiplayer Campaign.

Each playthrough of this campaign offers the chance to earn in-game Artifacts that can be used each time you play the campaign during the Battle Pass season. Comprised of all-new items to the Dota universe, Artifacts are mythic objects of power that can be equipped in your inventory as you progress through the challenges of the campaign.

As Act I opens, Siltbreaker awakens in the depths of Dark Reef, and the mysterious Conclave of the Brine calls upon you to halt this dark power's ascent, starting with Siltbreaker's twisted creation—Rhyzik the Corruptor.

As you battle through multiple play zones in search of Rhyzik, you'll earn completion stars based on your performance level. The first time you complete a zone with one or two stars will net you Battle Points rewards, and delivering a three-star zone performance will grant a treasure from Siltbreaker himself.

Each Siltbreaker Treasure includes a chance to receive an indescribably-rare Immortal Desert Sands Baby Roshan courier, and Battle Pass owners with Battle Level 165 or higher will receive double the treasures for each three-star zone they complete with the reward bonus active. You'll also have the opportunity to unlock achievements that grant even more Battle Points.

Can you defeat Rhyzik to earn your just rewards and set up an Act II showdown with Siltbreaker? Party up with three friends or queue-met allies to find out. Stick together and stay alert. You might just stand a fighting chance.

Kunkka Prestige Item and Quest Path

June 03, 2017

Today marks the release of the exclusive 'Prize of the Saltworn Mariner' Kunkka Prestige item and Quest Path, available to all Battle Pass owners with a Battle Level of 225 or higher. Players who complete the Quest Path will also receive an alternate style unlock for the Prestige item.

Featuring new animations and sounds for Kunkka's ultimate ability, this item can only be obtained by increasing your Battle Pass to level 225 before the conclusion of The International, and—like the Io Arcana available at level 245—will not be available to market or trade in the future. Battle Pass owners who have already sailed past level 225 need but claim their prize from the rewards line to reel the item into Admiral Kunkka's collection.

Dota 2 Short Film Contest

June 01, 2017

Submissions for the 2017 Dota 2 Short Film Contest are now open, and this year we've extended the allowed length of each short film from 60 seconds to 90 seconds. Filmmakers have until the morning of July 25, 2017 to submit their short film creations to the Dota 2 Steam Workshop to be eligible for consideration.

Dota 2 Update - May 31st, 2017

May 31, 2017

* As an experimental change for a few days, All Pick will now have 25 heroes randomly removed from the hero pool at the start of the draft before the ban phase. This change only affects Ranked Matchmaking.

* In today ™s update we are changing how commands are processed in Dota to address some user input contention and improve responsiveness. Previously if you cast a spell and before it finished casting, you cast two spells afterwards, only the last spell would be cast. The order queue was only 1 deep effectively. This usually has no practical impact, except for things with really fast/instant cast time done in sequence. Here are a few examples of how the behavior would be different:

Example 1:
--
Axe casts battle hunger. While the cast animation is playing, Axe quickly uses a Blink Dagger and then Berserker ™s Call.

Old Rules: Only Berserker ™s Call is cast. The blink dagger order is ignored.
New Rules: Axe will use the Blink Dagger, then cast Berserker ™s Call.

Example 2:
--
Puck casts Illusory Orb. Puck then casts Dream Coil. While the cast animation of Dream Coil is playing, Puck quickly casts Ethereal Jaunt and Waning Rift.

Old Rules: Only Waning Rift would have triggered and Puck would not have teleported with Ethereal Jaunt.
New Rules: Puck teleports with Ethereal Jaunt and then casts Waning Rift in the new location.

This change applies generally to all orders that are issued when your hero is in another action (like during a cast animation or while stunned), and the order needs to enter the queue. Issuing a movement command or stop will still empty the queue same as before, if you decide you no longer want to issue the orders in the queue.
