Dota 2 Update - October 3rd, 2017

October 04, 2017

- Fixed various bugs with matchmaking.
- Adjusted the weight given to behavior metrics to be more focused on a very small percentage of players that were the most offensive players, rather than the general population.
- Adjusted matchmaking for new players to be more sensitive to the number of games played rather than behavior. Players that are detected as smurfs however are treated primarily on their skill and less so on their game count history.
- Improved the behavior scoring system and recalibrated existing behavior score values.
- Improved detection of exploiters, bots, account sellers and in-game feeding. Matchmaking bans are being issued against these types of players.

The Dota Pro Circuit

September 16, 2017

Just one month has passed since Team Liquid were crowned World Champions at The International, and already players, teams, and fans alike turn their attentions to the upcoming competitive season and the next chance to claim the Aegis of Champions in 2018.

On the road to the next championship stand 11 Majors and 16 Minors that comprise the Dota Pro Circuit, an eight-month season of tournaments held around the world that offer Qualifying Points used to determine the eight direct invites to The International.

As teams undertake the challenges of the new season, they can now bring another resource into the fight. This year, coaches will be allowed to remain with their players for the duration of the pre-game draft phase to discuss strategy and help determine picks and bans. Once the draft is complete, coaches will be required to depart the play area.

With the first two Minors and first Major set to take place next month, players and teams are now welcome to manage rosters via the Majors and Minors Registration hub.

Phase One of registration — during which managers can re-register previous teams, and players can accept invites or drop from previous teams — will end at 5:00 p.m. PDT on September 22. Phase Two — during which managers can register new teams and players can accept new invites — will end at 5:00 p.m. PDT on October 03. All rosters will be locked as final at the end of Phase Two.

Siltbreaker: Act II — Exclusive Battle Pass Campaign

August 18, 2017

The final battle approaches, and the chosen defenders of the Brine must continue their secret mission into Dark Reef Prison to eradicate the fiendish Siltbreaker once and for all. Battle Pass owners are once again invited to undertake a journey that spans vast domains, where fearsome creatures and monstrous hordes lurk in every shadow, as the first Dota 2 Multiplayer Campaign concludes with today's release of Siltbreaker: Act II.

To accompany this release, we've added an Adventure Mode to Acts I & II that allows for a more casual playstyle. Adventure Mode playthroughs won't garner any Artifacts, achievements, or rewards, but the decreased difficulty and removal of any non-quest goals will let players explore the dangerous world of Siltbreaker without any additional pressure.

We've also introduced changes to the Artifact system for both acts that will help ensure more players can discover these objects of power and factor them into tactical decisions as they play. Players who collected Artifacts in Act I are welcome to utilize them in Act II, and vice versa, but there are some important differences with the new system. Check out today's patch notes for more information.

As you fight your way to a showdown with Siltbreaker, you’ll earn completion stars based on your performance level. The first time you complete a zone with one or two stars will net you Battle Points rewards, and delivering a three-star zone performance will grant a treasure from the aquatic terror himself.

Each Siltbreaker Treasure includes a chance to receive an indescribably-rare Immortal Desert Sands Baby Roshan courier, and Battle Pass owners with Battle Level 165 or higher will receive double the treasures for each three-star zone they complete with the reward bonus active. You’ll also have the opportunity to unlock new Act II achievements for even more Battle Points.

Can you find Siltbreaker and end this dire threat before he makes his escape? Party up with three friends or queue-met allies to find out. The safety of the free seas hangs in the balance, and—should you fail—the drylands might be next.
