Marci Marches In

October 29, 2021

Today Marci powers her way from DOTA: Dragon's Blood into the battle of the Ancients as the newest hero to join the fight, proving that undying loyalty yields unrivaled power. Marci marches into battle ready to raise fists in defense of her companions. Head over to the Marci update page to learn about her abilities and more.

Gameplay Update 7.30e
Also included in todays update is gameplay update 7.30e. Check out all the details on the update page.

Treasure of the Wordless Trek
The Treasure of the Wordless Trek is now for sale for $2.49. This all-new treasure features sets for Zeus, Sven, Puck, Lina, Brewmaster, Clockwerk, Lich, Pangolier, Templar Assassin, and Ancient Apparation, as well as a chance at a Very Rare Spectre set, and Extremely Rare Razor set.

The International Grand Champions
From Eastern Europe Qualifiers to The International Champions, we'd like to officially congratulate Team Spirit on their monumental accomplishment.

In one of the greatest Finals ever witnessed, Team Spirit triumphed in a winner-take-all game five against arguably the most feared Dota team in the world, PSG.LGD. Fittingly, the lineups for the deciding game set two dominant strategies of the tournament against each other, and in the end Team Spirit's Magnus-first draft was too much for PSG.LGD's vaunted Tiny/Lycan pair. They claimed the final game on the main stage — and with it the Aegis — just as they had won the first game of the Main Event, with an aggressive and exciting style of play that improved each day and thrilled Dota fans worldwide along the way.

As bearers of the ultimate symbol of victory, these names shall forever be inscribed upon the Aegis of Champions:

2021 - Team Spirit

  • Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk
  • Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek
  • Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov
  • Miroslaw "Mira" Kolpakov
  • Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidenov

Looking Back
If you missed any of the tournament, or just want to rewatch some of the incredible moments and dazzling plays, head over to The International website, where you can find replays for every match. There are photos and videos from the event over on our Youtube Main Event and Event Entertainment playlists, Dota 2 Instagram, and the Dota 2 Flickr — which also features content stretching back to the earliest incarnations of TI.

We would like to thank all of the players, talent, and everyone in the Dota community for once again helping bring this celebration to life. The road to The International was not straightforward this time around, but we hope you enjoyed the world-class Dota and all of the broadcast content from this year's tournament as much as we did.

This Fall Marci Joins the Fight

October 16, 2021

For fans of DOTA: Dragon's Blood, the next hero joining the battle of the Ancients is already a familiar face.

This fall, unleash the dauntless strength of Marci as she proves some loyalties transcend barriers and takes her place amongst the most stalwart heroes in Dota 2.

Her journey begins above with help from 2D animation by Studio Mir and she'll enter the mix in a new Dota 2 update coming soon.

The International Main Event

October 12, 2021

The International Main Event kicks off at National Arena in Bucharest in less than twelve hours. Tune in from 10 am EEST via the DPC website, the Dota client, or over on Twitch to catch all of the main stage action as the final 16 teams face off for the Aegis.

Team Standings
After a hard-fought Group Stage, group leaders PSG.LGD and Invictus Gaming will be joined in the Upper Bracket by Virtus Pro, OG, T1, Team Secret, Vici Gaming, and Team Spirit. In the Lower Bracket, Team Undying, Evil Geniuses, Beastcoast, Quincy Crew, Fnatic, Elephant, Team Aster, and Alliance will all need to battle out of a best-of-one elimination match with their tournament hopes on the line. As those squads move to the main stage, SG esports and Thunder Predator exit the tournament as the first teams to fall. We salute their accomplishments in earning a place amongst the finest teams in the world and wish them luck in their efforts to return next year.

Crimson Witness Treasures
Watching matches live at National Arena isn't an option for fans this year, but that doesn't mean ticket-holders have to miss out on one of the traditional perks of attending the event. To help celebrate first blood in each match, fans who purchased tickets to attend The International still have a chance to snag this year's Crimson Witness treasures. You won't need to sign in or out for each game, just make sure to register your account once over on the Crimson Witness page to ensure your eligibility.

The Secret Shop
Fans looking to raid this year's Secret Shop can head over to The International's official online store, brought to you by our merchandise partners at We Are Nations. In addition to the tournament-themed items, they've worked together with members of the Dota Community to develop new offerings in a Fan Art Collection.

Official Tournament Chair
For those Dota diehards looking for one more piece of The International to add to their home collections, our partners at Secret Lab invite you to check out this year's official tournament chair. Designed for use in the player booths on the main stage and themed to match this year's event, it's the perfect peripheral to pair with your own Dota games.

Adjustment to Streaming Rules

October 09, 2021

Giving third party studios and individual casters a place to connect with their specific audiences is great for everyone who loves Dota and The International.

Our rules didn't carefully consider how TI is unique among the DOTA events throughout the year, how rebroadcasting affects different communities around the world, and given the feedback we've received, we'd like to fix that. We agree that these communities thriving is great for everyone.

We are going to remove the 15 minute delay requirement on third party streams for the remainder of the event, and then reevaluate the approach overall after The International.

Community Casts for The International

October 07, 2021

We are seeing some confusion around the requirements that apply to community casts of The International.

As in previous years, anyone can do a community broadcast if (1) they base it only on DOTATV and their own self-made content and (2) they are strictly non-commercial in nature.

Nothing is new about this and Valve has imposed no broadcast delay on these non-commercial community casts. These rules apply worldwide without distinction.

What is new this year is that Valve has also allowed a limited number of video platforms to create custom casts through casters who are under agreement with the video platforms. These are commercial casts and therefore not permitted under Valve's community stream policy.

For these commercial casts a 15 minute streaming delay is being imposed. The video platforms who employ commercial casters all agreed to this delay in their license agreements, and it should not have come as a surprise to them.

The Secret Shop is Now Open

October 07, 2021

Celebrate the return of The International by loading up on this year's latest Dota gear.

Snag your own limited edition TI track jacket, event jersey, hoodie, hat, and a variety of new offerings over at the tournament's official store, brought to you by our merchandise partners at We Are Nations.

In addition to the TI10-themed selections, don't miss the newest contributions from the Dota 2 community featured in the Fan Art Collection.

The International Arrives

October 07, 2021

The groups are set, the teams and talent are ready, and millions of fans around the world know the long wait is over. After an unsought silence of two years, the ultimate battle will at last commence. Don't miss a moment of the action as the 18 qualified teams fight to claim the Aegis of Champions and the winner's share of the $40 million dollar prize. With broadcasts in five languages, an all-new cheering system, and improved Twitch integration, it has never been easier for Dota's global audience to engage with the year's crowning event.

How to Watch

The International section of the new DPC website is the place to go for all live streams and spoiler-free replays across the various broadcast languages. As always, matches and replays can be watched in-client as well.

During the Group Stages, multiple games will be in progress at once, so the main stream will feature the Multicast, which follows the most exciting matches of the day. To watch individual games, tune into one of the sub-streams for each language (e.g. dota2ti_2 - dota2ti_5).

Spectator Cheering

While we are all disappointed that we'll be unable to welcome a live audience to Bucharest, we're sure that the online audience will be as strong as ever. So we've designed a brand new cheering feature that allows fans watching online to still make their voices heard.

When watching a match in-client, and soon via Twitch, simply click on the team logos at the top of the screen to send a cheer for your team. We take all of the cheers from the entire audience and sum them up, then represent them visually on screen as well as with the roar of the crowd. So while we can't hear you in person, your passion and voices will still have an impact on the event.

If you are a Supporter's Club member, then your cheers will not only join the roar of the crowd, they will also be represented visually as Bronze/Silver/Gold team logos showing as part of the cheering stream.

Twitch Integration

New for this year, we've partnered with bukka and SUNSfan, the creators of the Dota 2 Tooltips Twitch Extension, to enhance the spectator experience while watching on Twitch:

  • Looking to clarify how an ability or item works? Simply mouse over it to see the full in-game tooltip information.
  • Complete in-game predictions, the same as in the Dota 2 client. At the beginning of the match, you will be presented with 4 questions to predict the outcome to—get them right and earn Compendium Points to further your progress along the Compendium Reward Line.
  • Cheer for your favorite teams by clicking their logos at the top of the screen.
  • And finally, we're also bringing back Twitch Drops—simply watch 1 hour of any of the matches throughout the tournament on Twitch and you will receive a free drop of The International 2021 Lineage Treasure.

Make sure to log into your Twitch account, navigate to the Connections section of Twitch Settings, and bind your Steam ID in order to access these features.

The International 2021 Ticket Sales Canceled

October 03, 2021

We have been carefully evaluating the continued rise of Covid rates in Romania, as well as the resulting introduction of new local restrictions in Bucharest. To ensure the safety of all players, talent, and production staff participating in the event, we have decided to refund all ticket sales for The International 2021.

We wanted nothing more than to welcome fans live to the event, but we can no longer do so in a way that allows us to prioritize the health and well-being of both audience members and participants. Those who purchased tickets will be issued a full refund automatically.

The International 2021 will begin as planned on October 7, and we look forward to welcoming the best Dota teams in the world to the stage and sharing the experience online with millions of fans around the world.

The autograph is permanent, the chat wheel line is usable until The International 2022. 50% of all Talent Autograph sales go directly to the talent.

The International Website

This update features the unveiling of the all-new website for The International, located at dota2.com/esports/ti10.  Watch live matches and VODs, check out tournament standings and upcoming matches, and view team details and stats all in one spot. Missed something while it was live? Log in to the site and enable Spoiler Block to enable a spoiler-free experience where you can enjoy the tournament at your own pace.

While today's focus is squarely on the upcoming tournament, The International section is only one part of the new Dota 2 esports website at dota2.com/esports. This site will be the source for all DPC action including the regional qualifiers, Majors, and The International itself. You can already check out the results and information from the past 2021 Spring events.

Short Film Contest

The International is not just a tournament featuring the best Dota players in the world — it's also a celebration of the Dota community as a whole. And nothing exemplifies this community more than the talented filmmakers who create entries for the annual Short Film Contest and the enjoyment of fellow fans.

The finalists have been selected, and these top submissions are now available for voting within the Dota client. The winning entries will be showcased on the big screen at The International — meaning your votes will decide who deserves the top prize of $25,000.

Now Broadcasting in Spanish and Portuguese

We're excited to announce the addition of official Spanish and Portuguese broadcasts to the event. As the name 'The International' implies, Dota is a game that brings people together from all backgrounds, cultures, and languages — and we want players to have the opportunity to enjoy watching the game they love in the language that speaks to them. Check out the Talent page in the Compendium to see the full lineup of who's involved.
