The International Arrives
October 07, 2021

The groups are set, the teams and talent are ready, and millions of fans around the world know the long wait is over. After an unsought silence of two years, the ultimate battle will at last commence. Don't miss a moment of the action as the 18 qualified teams fight to claim the Aegis of Champions and the winner's share of the $40 million dollar prize. With broadcasts in five languages, an all-new cheering system, and improved Twitch integration, it has never been easier for Dota's global audience to engage with the year's crowning event.
How to Watch
The International section of the new DPC website is the place to go for all live streams and spoiler-free replays across the various broadcast languages. As always, matches and replays can be watched in-client as well.
During the Group Stages, multiple games will be in progress at once, so the main stream will feature the Multicast, which follows the most exciting matches of the day. To watch individual games, tune into one of the sub-streams for each language (e.g. dota2ti_2 - dota2ti_5).
Spectator Cheering

While we are all disappointed that we'll be unable to welcome a live audience to Bucharest, we're sure that the online audience will be as strong as ever. So we've designed a brand new cheering feature that allows fans watching online to still make their voices heard.
When watching a match in-client, and soon via Twitch, simply click on the team logos at the top of the screen to send a cheer for your team. We take all of the cheers from the entire audience and sum them up, then represent them visually on screen as well as with the roar of the crowd. So while we can't hear you in person, your passion and voices will still have an impact on the event.
If you are a Supporter's Club member, then your cheers will not only join the roar of the crowd, they will also be represented visually as Bronze/Silver/Gold team logos showing as part of the cheering stream.
Twitch Integration
New for this year, we've partnered with bukka and SUNSfan, the creators of the Dota 2 Tooltips Twitch Extension, to enhance the spectator experience while watching on Twitch:

- Looking to clarify how an ability or item works? Simply mouse over it to see the full in-game tooltip information.
- Complete in-game predictions, the same as in the Dota 2 client. At the beginning of the match, you will be presented with 4 questions to predict the outcome to—get them right and earn Compendium Points to further your progress along the Compendium Reward Line.
- Cheer for your favorite teams by clicking their logos at the top of the screen.
- And finally, we're also bringing back Twitch Drops—simply watch 1 hour of any of the matches throughout the tournament on Twitch and you will receive a free drop of The International 2021 Lineage Treasure.
Make sure to log into your Twitch account, navigate to the Connections section of Twitch Settings, and bind your Steam ID in order to access these features.

You can already check out the results and information from the past 2021 Spring events.
Short Film Contest

The International is not just a tournament featuring the best Dota players in the world — it's also a celebration of the Dota community as a whole. And nothing exemplifies this community more than the talented filmmakers who create entries for the annual Short Film Contest and the enjoyment of fellow fans.
The finalists have been selected, and these top submissions are now available for voting within the Dota client. The winning entries will be showcased on the big screen at The International — meaning your votes will decide who deserves the top prize of $25,000.
Now Broadcasting in Spanish and Portuguese
We're excited to announce the addition of official Spanish and Portuguese broadcasts to the event. As the name 'The International' implies, Dota is a game that brings people together from all backgrounds, cultures, and languages — and we want players to have the opportunity to enjoy watching the game they love in the language that speaks to them. Check out the Talent page in the Compendium to see the full lineup of who's involved.

Playback

Moving Dota Technology Forward
As Dota has grown and expanded over the years, so has the technology that powers it—both hardware and software. In order to keep the game and the Source 2 engine fresh, we're planning on removing support for some older systems and configurations. Nothing is changing today, but in the coming months we'll implement the following changes:
- Remove support for Dota on 32-bit systems. You will need to have a 64-bit machine and OS to run Dota.
- Remove support for macOS versions below 10.14.
- Remove support for DirectX 9. Customers using DirectX 9 will instead switch to DirectX 11.
- Remove support for OpenGL. Customers using OpenGL will instead switch to Vulkan.
- Remove support for XAudio (-xaudio) and switch to using SDL Audio (-sdlaudio).
For the vast majority of players, nothing will change when these changes are implemented. Most machines already support any of the newer technologies necessary. In fact, most players are already benefiting from the newer technologies, whether it's via larger content sizes, higher frame rates, better graphical fidelity, or cleaner sounding audio. Removing these older technologies will let us streamline our development efforts as well as use the newer features of these APIs to provide an even better Dota experience.
If you have concerns, your chosen graphics API can be adjusted on the settings panel and the audio system can be changed by the command line options above. We encourage players to switch to the newer APIs if they haven't already, and let us know if problems come up.

The International 2021 Ticket Sales
September 03, 2021
At long last, the top Dota teams in the world will gather this October to wage the tenth battle to claim the Aegis of Champions. We had hoped to release ticket information by now, but the Delta variant has been an added challenge as we work to navigate hosting a live event as safely as possible. With circumstances constantly changing, we want to be careful to make a well-informed and safe decision regarding ticket sales closer to the event.
We understand this makes planning difficult for fans hoping to travel to Romania. We will continue to evaluate the situation and announce ticket information as soon as we are able.
No matter what is decided, we are looking forward to welcoming the best Dota teams in the world to the National Arena in Bucharest for The International 2021, and millions more from the global Dota community on our livestream broadcast. Group Stage runs October 7 - 10, and Main Stage begins October 12. The top two teams will face off in the Grand Finals October 17, with only one earning the right to claim the Aegis of Champions.

September 01, 2021

Summer cedes soon to autumn, sending signals to the smeevils that the time for another seasonal Dota Plus update has now arrived. The autumn-ready additions that await include several features from the Nemestice Battle Pass transitioning into Dota Plus's core, as well as a new seasonal treasure and refreshed guild quests & rewards.
Nemestice Features
As part of the Nemestice Battle Pass, we improved the Dota Plus Item Assistant with Neutral Item Suggestions and enhanced Quick Buy Recommendations. Though the Nemestice storms have passed, both of these features have now been transferred to Dota Plus core and are available to all Plus members.
For Plus members interested in expanding their in-lane audio libraries, the Chat Wheel sound effects from the Nemestice Battle Pass are now available for purchase via shards in the Dota Plus Shard Store.

The Fall 2021 Seasonal Treasure is here, available for purchase with shards. Exclusive to Dota Plus members, this treasure features all new sets for Vengeful Spirit, Abaddon, Nature's Prophet, Witch Doctor, Disruptor, Shadow Demon, Tusk, Legion Commander, and Dark Seer. There's also a chance to unlock Ol' Joe the koala courier, a chill little guy preloaded with random prismatic and kinetic gems.
Updated Seasonal Quests & Guild Rewards

Rounding out today's update in addition to the changes above, the guild rewards for silver, gold, and platinum tier guilds have all been switched for the fall season. We were saddened to hear recently of the passing of Aldrin Paulo "Dunoo" Pangan, an icon of the Filipino casting community.
