The 2022 Battle Pass: Part II — Diretide
November 03, 2022

The Battle Pass: Part II — Diretide
The Aegis has been claimed, and the new champions bask in the glow of well-earned victory. But outside of that triumphant light, as the heroics and heartbreaks of The International fade into blissful memory, the Dota season grows dark and the lava fields turn to ice — meaning it's time now for Part II of the 2022 Battle Pass. Namely, it's time for Diretide! Roshan has awakened from his candy coma, spurred on by righteous thieving greevils, and now all Dota players are invited to join in on the Hallo-wintery fun.
Part II of the Battle Pass features the Candyworks, the new Diretide game mode, a second Cavern Crawl map, and the release of another round of rewards — like the Conduit of the Blueheart Crystal Maiden Persona, Immortal Treasure II, custom Versus screens, a Cave Johnson announcer pack, fresh taunts, and more.
Don't miss Sithil and Quirt's Candyworks & Treasure Emporium, where you can trade in candy you've gained from the Battle Pass, or any you gain from playing games and recycling treasures, to claim all manner of goodies — from items, couriers, and wards all the way up to Arcana — even a custom Roshan skin.
Queue up for Diretide: Season's Greevilings, where players harness Roshan's strength to destroy the enemy team's Taffy Wells. Recover Taffy from greevilous taffy thieves, score it at enemy Wells, and watch Roshan rip those buildings to pieces — all while riding a trusty mount of your choosing.
Explore the 2022 Battle Pass web page for more details, and if you haven't already purchased or unlocked a Battle Pass, you can score one for free thanks to The International 2022 Swag Bag.
Moving Dota Technology Forward
- This update adds support for NVIDIA Reflex on GTX 900 series and above. Reflex decreases click-to-display latency, particularly in situations where performance is limited by the GPU.
- On September 16, 2021 we announced our intent to remove support for OpenGL. This is the last major update for Dota that will support OpenGL. For the vast majority of players, nothing will change when OpenGL is removed, as they have already switched to a newer, higher-fidelity renderer. We encourage players to switch now if they haven't already, and let us know if problems arise.
The International Grand Champions
October 31, 2022

The Road to the Aegis
Congratulations to Tundra Esports, Grand Champions at The International 2022. They delivered a dominating performance — dropping only a single game during the entire Main Stage before taking the Grand Finals 3-0 to emerge victorious on the quest for the Aegis.
Tundra started their journey with an impressive 14-4 run through the Group Stage that earned no worse than series splits, and then simply took their play to another level at the Main Event. Their first foes in the Upper Bracket were OG. They shelved the two-time TI champion club in two games. This started a pattern for Tundra, broken only once. Their next foes were Team Aster, fresh from their own 2-0 victory. But the veterans of Tundra were not deterred. They won that series, as well, in only two games.
Tundra then prepared for the Upper Bracket Finals, where they would face Team Secret. The first game was a 67-minute slugfest. Secret pushed hard early in the game, but the tide turned as the game went on — and Tundra pushed back. Harder. Secret were forced to defend their base for the final twenty minutes before succumbing to an unrelenting onslaught. Game two was Tundra's only loss of the Finals, where they went down under the weight of Resolut1on's Dawnbreaker, but they bounced back in game three. Fifteen minutes in, Tundra scored a team wipe. Secret came back for more and, despite having key abilities on cooldown, Tundra again emerged victorious, securing a strong advantage in the midgame. Secret fell faster to the push this time, into the Lower Bracket Finals, and Tundra advanced to the Grand Finals riding the highs of a convincing win.
After Secret won a close 2-1 series to earn a rematch, the two squads faced off again — this time in the best-of-five Grand Finals with the Aegis of Champions at stake. Here, they left no doubt: Tundra dominated their final series with Secret, winning 3-0. In the first game, Tundra brought back skiter's fearsome Naga Siren and eventually built an untouchable lead. Game two brought a first — Tundra drafted Arc Warden for Nine, the hero's first appearance in a TI final. Secret looked very strong early on, but Tundra's cores came online and the soon-to-be-champions pulled ahead to end game two without even losing any barracks.
Game three presented a chance to forge a new legacy, and Tundra's players answered the call in spades. An out-of-nowhere pick of Medusa for skiter drew gasps, but Tundra's dominance came from all corners of the team. With that pick, plus 33's Beastmaster and Nine's Pangolier heavily bolstered by Saksa's favored Tiny and Sneyking's Mirana, Tundra was able to weather Secret's attacks before pulling away. They leveraged a near-teamwipe to push all the way to the Ancient for the victory and the sweep, securing the Aegis and their place in history.
As bearers of the ultimate symbol of victory, these names shall forever be inscribed upon the Aegis of Champions:
2022 - Tundra Esports
- Oliver "skiter" Lepko
- Leon "Nine" Kirilin
- Neta "33" Shapira
- Martin "Saksa" Sazdov
- Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun

These gifts will still be available once we complete the upgrade, so please stay tuned!
The International 2022 Swag Bag
October 26, 2022

The International playoffs are in the books, and four standout teams have survived with dreams of claiming the Aegis still intact. As we all catch our breaths during this interlude between the nail-biting action, we'd like to take a moment to focus our attention towards Dota players all around the world, not just those competing on stage in Singapore.
As we announced in June with the Battle Report update, our goal is to harness the excitement of The International Grand Finals and ensure that the days and weeks following the event's conclusion offer fans the very best time to play Dota.
To that end, today we're unveiling The International 2022 Swag Bag, a free giveaway for all Dota players. Log in now — or anytime before the Battle Pass ends — to claim your three rewards:
- One month of Dota Plus.
- A Level 1 Battle Pass, redeemable for 24 Battle Levels if you already own a Battle Pass.
- Your choice of one Arcana from any available on the Dota 2 store.
Starting today these rewards are available to all Dota players that play (or have played) at least 10 matches during the Battle Pass season, and will continue to be available to claim until the end of the season in January.
Like everyone in the community, we can't wait to watch the best Dota players in the world compete for the Aegis of Champions this weekend, October 28-29. The International 2022 Playoffs Recap
October 24, 2022

The International 2022 Playoffs are now complete, and of the sixteen teams that started in the quest for the Aegis of Champions, only four contenders remain. Congratulations to Team Secret, Tundra Esports, Team Aster, and Team Liquid, who all now prepare to face each other in the Finals. Catch the highlights of each team's run through the brackets as well as some key moments from the playoffs with our Top Plays recap video.
The storyline of the tournament so far has been one of upsets and new blood. Evil Geniuses, so dominant in the Group Stage, went winless on the main stage against a surging Thunder Awaken and then Beastcoast — marking a clear rise in the stature of South American Dota. The defending champions Team Spirit lost to upstarts BOOM Esports. Perennial powerhouses PSG.LGD fell to the lower bracket against an impressive Team Secret, and were eventually knocked out by their regional rival Team Aster. RNG and Entity made history with the longest Main Stage match ever at The International with an intense 107-minute slugfest featuring a position-five Ancient Apparition packing two Divine Rapiers.
The past week has seen far too many amazing Dota moments to sufficiently summarize in a few short paragraphs, so we invite everyone to relive all the ups and downs of the tourney so far — ready and waiting with all of the VODs uploaded to the Dota 2 Youtube, or accessible directly from the Dota Esports portal.
The International 2022 Finals Weekend
With the Playoffs complete, our attention shifts eagerly to Singapore Indoor Stadium, where in a few short days the four remaining squads will compete for the Aegis and ultimate glory. The International 2022 Finals broadcast begins on Saturday, October 29th at 12:00pm and Sunday, October 30th at 11:30am, with venue doors opening at 10:00am on both days. Join together with fans from around the world to witness the stunning conclusion to this year's journey to The International.
The International 2022 Main Event
October 20, 2022

The International Group Stage Concludes
The International Group Stage has come to a close, and sixteen teams have battled their way into the Main Event.
Congratulations to Evil Geniuses, Tundra Esports, Team Liquid, Team Secret, PSG.LGD, Thunder Awaken, OG, Team Aster for earning Upper Bracket placements in the Main Event. Following close behind are Hokori, Fnatic, Royal Never Give Up, defending champions Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, Beastcoast, Entity, and BOOM Esports — who all face the daunting challenges of the Lower Bracket, but still contend for the Aegis all the same.
We would also like to thank Talon Esports, Soniqs, TSM, and BetBoom Team for their valiant efforts throughout year and during Group Stage play. Each proved to be worthy adversaries, battling to the very last to earn advancement, but in the end only one team will hoist the Aegis, and these elite contenders are the first squads to miss the cut.
The International Main Event
Now that the final field is set, it's time to turn our sights to the next stage — as the first match of the Upper Bracket kicks off at 10:00am on October 20th in Singapore featuring a best-of-three battle between Evil Geniuses and Thunder Awaken. The winner will secure a top-six finish and the loser will face the dangers of the Lower Bracket. Stay tuned afterwards for even more matchups to follow.
The Playoffs will run through October 23rd to determine which four teams will proceed to the final stage at Singapore Indoor Stadium in the days that follow.
